She She She She She She She Made~She Made February

A while back, Therese was at an Arts Festival and came across these Susan Clayton Clay Faces and asked six other ladies to make something with them and join us for our February She Made~She Made.  Please take a few moments and see what the ladies made and also go over to see Susan's beautiful and expressive sculptures.  You will be so glad you did :-)

Here's The List of Lovely She Maders:

Therese ~ Shirley ~ Bobbie (who was vending at the same Arts Festival) ~ Tanya ~ Hope ~ Cynthia ~ Alicia

I kept this face with every beading project I was working on from the moment she arrived at my house.  I was hoping she would reveal herself to me.  She didn't have much to say except "Keep It Simple and Keep It Warm~This winter is a beast!" There was also a need I could not shake...I want to be able to always have the ability to see the back of her if I need to.  The back of her head has a thumbprint on it.  It was important to me to not glue it or permanently cover it up.  I want to know I can place my thumb there if I want to.  I decided to use a swatch of fabric I picked up from an upholstery store and an old button from my Gram's stash.  I worked on her for a couple weeks, just with the fabric and the button and her sweet face.  I was trying to make a cape.  Finally, late last week, she insisted it be a scarf for these brutal winter days.  So I honored her request, but a pin on the back and I know at any time I can snip a couple threads and see her thumbprint on the back.  I knew she would tell me what to do.  She has that silent strength about her.  I adore her.

Thank You Therese!!!
You are a great partner~it was fun expanding our SM~SM :-D

Christine I love what you did and you listened to her when she said just keep it simple. She looks very warm and cozy in her bright red scarf and pretty blue button clasp.
Thank you once again partner for making the She Made She Made challenge so much fun.

What a lovely pin. I love the bright red scarf. (We were totally thinking along the same lines.) The fabric is a great addition and I love that you left the thumbprint intact. I thought about that, but couldn't figure out how to use the face without covering it up.

Oh wow. That windswept scarf is fabulous and frames her face so perfectly. I too was smitten with the thumbprint but knew there was no way I could work with it without hiding the print completely. I'm glad you were able to keep it in tact. Something about these faces is so . . .POWERFUL in their expression and how they touch us. You did a beautiful job with yours. She's divine.

Oh, my, this is such a fun idea ~ and I am sure the scarf is much needed (mine should wear a ski mask! we have another incredible -30 C today). I had the exact same feeling, I don't want to cover the thumb imprint on the back, I thought I'm being crazy!
Love what you did with it ~ truly special!

Just perfect ... I wouldn't have wanted to cover the thumb print, either, how special! I love pieces that hint at what you should do with them.

What a dear soul and thank goodness you are keeping her warm, Christine :) I know these elder gals are supposed to be a lot "tougher"... but honestly, was it ever this cold when we were young? Love your simple but beautiful solution :)

I love this - it just pops with happiness and warmth. You can just hear her saying, 'stay warm'!

What a great solution -- she looks so nice and warm, but the flowers on the button (? bead?) are like a little promise of spring as she makes it through the last gasps of winter. And that color of red is now my new favorite!

Her scarf is a clever idea. It is sure appropriate this winter.

Christine - so sorry to be late to the party! I'm hopping around this morning. I just love your lady ... I feel like I would stumble upon her humming away in the kitchen, perhaps sipping her coffee and taking in the sun. She has such a peaceful soul feel to her. She will be a wonderful companion for you!! Thank you for inviting a few of us to play along this month - LOVED this challenge

Om my...she is the cutest! A face that will make anyone smile. I love the scarf and vintage button accent. She will remain warm through the rest of this crazy winter we are experiencing.

Definitely cozy! Just seeing her makes me smile. And I can completely understand why you wouldn't want to permanently cover the thumbprint.
