A while back, I made this square to send to Amy for her Bead It Forward event. My square turned out too big to send, as I used size 10 Delicas instead of size 11 Delicas. So this botched square just floated around my workshop and house, with no particular purpose. I came across it a couple weeks ago and thought, "Hmmm, I think THIS will be my UFO project!"
So I took this
And I beaded a cobalt AB back
And I added my Gram's Adventurine Beads as Fringe and on the long neck strap
Here is the list of all the UFOers...we are all trying to get our projects to the finish line, no matter how many years they take :

That bag is lovely! I'm smitten with your addition of your gram's beads. It makes it even more special. I hate that you had the wrong size beads, but it looks like it made just the right inspiration for THIS challenge and worked out beautifully!
Thanks for your help with the links yesterday. It's always nice to have friends in high places :D
So pretty! The fact that you had JUST enough of those cobalt beads, after having held onto them for so long, means that this was exactly the perfect way to use them. And your gram's beads are a lovely addition to the amulet. They'll make it even more wonderful to wear, with the little swish and clink of the fringe to remind you of her with every step.
What a perfectly clever thing to do with that beaded dragonfly square!!! LOVE IT!! It reminds me of how peyote stitched amulet bags were my first foray into petyoet stitch beading! I love how this whole piece came together.
What a great way to repurpose your dragonfly square! Amulet bags always seem a little bit magical to me, and this one is no exception. Especially with your gram's beads and the fact that you literally had just enough cobalt blue seed beads to finish. It's like it was meant to be - it just took a while to let you know.
Now you need to put a little something inside as a little secret for the wearer. Maybe one of your beautiful stones? :)
I remember sitting in a bookstore chatting and you beading this pretty little dragonfly! I absolutely love what he became, and that you used a touch of Gram! I bet she'd like this little amulet bag. Isn't it just the best when you end a piece on just enough beads? doesn't happen often, but when it does ....
What a wonderful idea, and I sure love your Gram's pretty green beads.
Great save! I have had a similar experience with those squares, but I figured out it was too big before I got 4 rows done. Now I kind of wish I had made the whole square. What a great way to repurpose the square. The dragonfly will be fun for summer. And kudos for using a color you aren't comfortable with. That is a great way to expand your horizons.

Those size 10's weren't actually the wrong size. They were the right size because they wanted to stay with you and turn into an amulet bag. Who are you to stand in the way of the will of the beads? I love how you finished it. The perfect size for a house key, and that's about all you need. I would have never thought to try aventurine, but they hang back just enough to let the dragonfly shine!
The little dragonfly waited until just the right moment to whisper to your muse that it was time to give it a purpose. Your muse knew that there would be just enough of the cobalt blue size 10 delicas to finish and that Gram's Aventurine beads would be the perfect pairing with the cobalt blue delicas. I agree that you should put one of your rocks in the bag.
