RAW...YAWN.

I LOVE THESE PIECES!!!  After the Bead Embroidery Struggles of the Winter, I needed a Little Easy in my Beading Life.  I didn't know I would get it so soon.  But this past weekend, I beaded all day Saturday and made one bracelet and 5 necklaces.  I couldn't believe the ease and the flow that the day brought.  One necklace did have to go to the chop and be reassembled the next day, but more on that in another post.
Today is about these RAW pieces.

Now, anyone who knows my weaving repertoire knows I like Right Angle Weave about as much as I like to bead embroider...which is to say, Not At All.

But I was with Cynthia recently and she gifted me all these gorgeous colorful agate rounds you see here today.  And we got to talking about RAW and she suggested that maybe if I used bigger beads when I did RAW I might not hate it.  I took her advice, took her lovely beads, and starting RAWing...I planned on doing a very wide bracelet, all in RAW and let these gorgeous beads SHINE.

But I got 21 units into the first row of RAW and realized I couldn't wait to STOP.  I needed OUT and FAST.  I know peyote and herringbone and ladder and brick and square stitch are all repetitive too, but there is something about RAW that makes me want to get away as fast as I can.  So these pieces were born.
RAW and Netting.  Fast and Pretty.  I am happy :-)  It was great beading once I addressed that I could, but chose not to.

Gorgeous agate rounds in a variety of colors, matte bronze  size 11 seed beads.
That is it!

What a pretty set - love the agates - AND I love those pictures, too! Glad you found time to bead, even though not your favorite stitch!

The bracelet looks great laid out with the necklace, but seeing it on your wrist ---ZING--- makes it come ALIVE. The bead geometry is perfectly in harmony with those luscious agates. It has spontaneity without carelessness and is mysterious without being aloof. It's the kind of piece you want to keep for a lifetime. The necklace is all of that with a dash of gentle femininity tossed in. What a wonderful set. I can tell you were in bead harmony.

They are beautiful pieces! How funny that you hate to do RAW but love other bead weaving!

These pieces are GREAT! You're making me giggle about your aversion to RAW. I once felt the same way - but now it's definitely one of my 'go-to' stitches! :) Anyway - your raw /netting creations are fantastic, you really made that agate shine!

Beautiful raw set! The colors are great together. This would look beautiful with so many solid color clothing pieces.

Christine, you made me laugh out loud reading about how you had to get out and fast from the RAW.I am glad that you stuck with it and mix in netting because the results are beautiful with all the different colors of the agate beads. This set will go with just about anything you want to wear.

Sorry to be so late to the party! But I really love what you did with those agates! and yes you can do RAW! even if it isn't your favorite, you made one gorgeous set that looks spectacular on! I agree with Liz on it coming alive once you slipped that piece around your wrist. Enjoy these beads my friend. They are absolutely you and fit you perfectly. And that makes me smile

RAW is a bugger, isn't it? There are days when I could more easily dance a jig while doing a handstand and reciting Beowulf in the original middle English than get a RAW piece to work right, and then there are days when it just flows. But you seem to have tamed the beast here, especially with the agate beads -- the resulting pieces are delicious!

Beautiful use of the agates. I personally LOVE RAW so I tend to be drawn to patterns and designs with RAW.
I LOVE the entire set. Great job.
