For some strange reason, this picture saddened me. The window - upper right (the one that is missing) just left me with an empty feeling inside...I almost see a lost soul peering out the window dreaming of a love that never showed up. I don't know why, but I can't shake it.

The house itself looks like it has withstood the hands of time, structurally.

oh this is an interesting old house with a story to tell - no doubt!

so this one reminds me of a house at the end of the block where I grew up. The house was enshrouded with brush and trees. It sat on a large lot off by itself.

of course as kids we needed to know who lived in there? and we would sneak about the woods looking for signs of its inhabitant. We would, from time to time spot a very old gentleman. He really wasn't scary (other than what our imaginations dreamed up). He simply wanted to be left alone.

A few years back when I was visiting, I noticed the entire lot had been cleared. It made me sad to wonder what happened to the man.

So sad! There is an old house near me that this reminds me of. It is so overgrown. I always wonder who owns these un-cared for properties. Someone must!

I wonder what the street names are on the sign post ... at the corner of 12th & Vine?

We had a house that looked like this up the street from us. It was very sad to see it.

Something about this house doesn't feel all that old to me. Maybe it's because it's on a street corner or because the bushes around it still feel very sparse somehow. I feel like this was indeed someone's home and they willingly abandoned it after letting it go into disrepair. Perhaps it was someone's family home and all the family members moved away. . .it feels and looks neglected.

It has been 40 years or more since me and my family has lived in the house on the corner of Madisonville Rd and Hills Pine Rd in Wayne Co. PA. We had to move one day after my Dad was killed in a mining accident. Mom did all that she could to try and keep us in our home, but when you have seven children with three under the age of six, well it was just hard on Mom. As I stand here looking at the old home I can remember the day Dad brought home some Cedar trees that someone had given him and he planted them around the house. Mom tried to tell him that they were too close to the house and that they would pose a problem when they grew. Well I guess Mom was right...
