I was born in Lackawanna County, and my family returned there for 2 weeks every summer. It was pure heaven - all of my cousins (there were a couple dozen of us) would be turned loose to explore the small towns and countryside, and we often happened upon abandoned structures. Of course, in summer they would be covered in buttercups and clover and they lent a sense of romance to our afternoon adventures! Seen with adult eyes and the bleakness of winter, I'm even more intrigued to know their stories!
I've been circling around this one .... can't decide what memories or images it brings up for me. Perhaps it is just all too familiar .... so many barns where I grew up. A small town, in the middle of nowhere where your choices were to farm, fish or log.

This structure has certainly seen better days!
This was once a house in Kansas and it belonged to Aunti Em. I wondered where that twister took that house!

The snow makes it seem even more forlorn.
