Therese picked the rose and the yellow agates for our October She Made/She Made challenge.
You know how your head gets stuck on something and you can't let it go?
My head got stuck on Blue Roses...from Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie. Laura and Jim talk about high school when Laura said she had pleurosis and Jim thought she said "Blue Roses". Lines from the play kept looping in my head. The next thing I knew:
The chain is a spiral done with peanut beads and tear drops.
Let's go over to Therese's Treasures and see what She Made!

This is really lovely, Christine! I love the blue rose in the center. And, I know what you mean about something getting stuck in your head and the next thing you know you've made something from it!
Beautiful Christine,
I love the spiral it sparkles and the I like that you used the yellow Fire Agate in this piece too. We were on the same brain wave with using a spiral stitch with the rose.

Oh and by the way thank you now I have all kinds of songs with roses in them and blue in them. Like "She wore blue velvet"... and "Paper roses"... and "The yellow rose of Texas"... LOL!

As I was reading your blog - and before I commented - I got the song "Paper Roses" in my head...just like Therese! That dang song is going to be hanging around all day!
I LOVE this spiral rope - LOVE it! As a non-seed beader, I noticed how you "roped around" the agate - that is so cool! I am afraid I have no idea what the technical term for that is...but I love it!
This is so pretty and I like knowing where your mind was when you came up with the idea. I also like the names for items in your beading world like peanut beads and teardrops!
So colorful! I love it! I have seen The Glass Menagerie once (the version with Katharine Hepburn) and now you have me wanting to see it again. :)
You and Therese have had so much fun making beautiful pieces! Love the roses!
This would have been a challenging color palette for me, but I love that you spun white into your design. Especially like how the agates are captured in the spiral!
What a beautiful piece Christine! the peanut and tear drop beads have that look of tiny glass figurines that Laura would have put on her 'glass menagerie' shelf! and the rose would have been front and center for Laura for sure! wonderful imagery in this one
I just told Therese how much I love these posts- they always make me smile.
Great job on the necklace and so different from Therese. Beautiful colors.
Love that rose!
